wordplay of the day

Some lines of poetry I came up with this afternoon. Not sure really what inspired me. I could hear these words working as song lyrics. I was actually hearing Johnny Cash in my head when it came to me. Go figure.

Looked into the mirror

The image staring back at me

Gave this direction

Upon reflection:

That’s not who you want to be.

also…

Does anybody really know where we’re going

Can anybody really comprehend

Which direction this river’s flowing

Or what’s just around the bend?

When He’s Just “Him”

On Facebook, it pains me to see women refer to their significant other as “he” or “him.” As in “I miss him” or “Can’t stop thinking about him…” added by “he knows who he is…”

Really? Does he know who he is? Does he know the two of you are in a relationship? And if so, is he acknowledging this relationship to an audience wider than you and him? In an environment other than your boudoir?

When your boo, boyfriend, or significant other is just “him” in the shared space of social media, he doesn’t want you.  Think of Facebook like the lobby of the movie theater; if he won’t hold your hand in the lobby but will in the darkness of the theater only, he’s not in a real relationship with you.

Is that harsh? Well, it’s true. And you may not be able to handle my truth. But guess what? It is what it is.
